Knee Pain

Pain in knee depends on ligaments and quadriceps muscle strength and stability.

COMMON CAUSES

1.AN INJURY:

We are well known that an injured knee is more likely to be painful, injury particularly during sports.

2.OVERUSE:

Long term effects of using knees can create a cumulative effects and leads to knee pain, over use of the knee leads to peri and intra articular problems .Some are self limiting other require physiotherapy.

3. A CHRONIC, UNDERLYING CONDITION:

Arthritis is examples of a chronic underlying condition that can lead to increased level of knee pain ARTHRITIS (The phenomenon of bone rubbing on bone) become a problem.

TYPES OF KNEE PAIN

MEDIAL KNEE PAIN:

  • Anserine bursitis causes pain and tenderness in upper part of tibia at the site of bursa, mostly occurs
  • In obese women often with valgus deformity.

ANTERIOR KNEE PAIN (FRONT):

  • Pre and infra patellar bursitis (House maids knee) local pain, tenderness and swelling leads to septic bursitis.
  • CHONDROMALASIA PATELLAE
  • In most cases the pain settles eventually ,when there is patellar misalignment it may need surgery
  • OS GOOD –SCHLATTER’S DISEASE causes pain and swelling over the tibial tubercle, hyper mobility of joint cause’s pain.
